Chief Executive of Milford Haven Port Authority

The port is the 6th largest in the UK, which plays a significant role in Pembrokeshire's economy employing 200+ staff, supporting oil refineries that provide 20% of the UK's petrol and diesel, the largest tank storage facility in the UK, the largest fish docks in Wales and the development of two LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminals that from 2008 will be importing 25% of the UK’s gas.

Ted's previous career was in transport with British Rail, and ferry companies Sealink, Stena and Caledonian MacBrayne. He is immediate past Chairman of the British Ports Association, a Public Member of Network Rail, a member of the CBI Wales Council, and a director of a number of local business and voluntary organisations.

Pembrokeshire College is the county's largest provider of a wide range of post-16 education, training and other services. Situated in a modern, purpose-built campus in Haverfordwest, we offer young people and adults excellent training opportunities to help them achieve their education, training and career goals. In its 2007 inspection, Estyn (the Welsh Ofsted) deemed that 92 per cent of Pembrokeshire's teaching was either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’. Grade 1 rated for engineering, construction, health & care, languages, literature and culture and student support.

Barry Walters has been Assistant Principal at Pembrokeshire College since 2002, having originally joined the college in 2000 as Business Faculty Manager. He is currently responsible for curriculum management and institutional planning as well as the implementation of the college ILT strategy.

He undertook a BSc in Management and Chemical Science from UMIST, followed by research for his PhD in Electrochemistry at both City University and Xiamen University in China.

Professor in Medical Biochemistry at Cardiff University College of Medicine

Anthony is one of life's genuine enthusiasts. An internationally acclaimed medical biochemist, he is an expert in the science of lactose intolerance, and in animals that make light, bioluminescence. This has revolutionised biomedical research and clinical diagnosis, the technology now being used in over 100 million clinical tests per year.

Dr Stephanie Matthews
Stephanie Matthews

Consultant in Medical Biochemistry at Llandough Hopsital, Cardiff
Stephanie is a clinical expert in food intolerance, for which she set up an NHS clinic now with over 600 patients. She studied medicine, and gained her PhD, in Cardiff, and is a consultant in Medical Biochemistry.
She is an expert in several other fields of medicine, particularly cholesterol and heart disease, and has pioneered LDL apheresis for people with severe cholesterol problems. She has also set up a clinic for young people with this problem, now being developed nationally and internationally with the charity Heart UK.

The new Beagle will sail the world in Darwin's wake, and will inspire global audiences through unique public engagement and learning programmes, and original scientific research in evolutionary biology, biodiversity and climate change.
