Milford Haven Port Authority Event

Seventy five pupils from local schools around the Waterway had a sneak preview of The Torch Theatre’s new Studio Theatre, sponsored by Milford Haven Port Authority on Friday 14th March.

The pupils were attending an Assessment Day as the culmination of a collaborative project between the Darwin Centre and Milford Haven Port Authority’s Community Initiative, within MHPA’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Following a series of recent investigative research Field Trips, organised by the Darwin Centre and led by Sid Howells of the Countryside Council for Wales, local junior school pupils completed project work to be assessed by British Association for the Advancement of Science BA CREST Awards. The Assessment Day was a BA supported event, as part of National Science and Engineering Week.

Darwin Science FestivalMarten Lewis of the Darwin Centre commented "I think we have found an excellent format for raising awareness of the very special Milford Haven Waterway, the field trips, workshops, projects and celebration at the Torch were all first class. I would like to thank MHPA, and everyone involved"

Claire Palmer, Milford Haven Port Authority’s Community Officer said of the programme “I am amazed at how much has captured the imaginations of the young people and how much information they have learnt and retained about the Waterway. This certainly was a worthwhile collaboration and one which we hope will become an annual event, benefiting school children around the County.”
