Rockpooling at Broadhaven Tuesday 2nd June 2pm-4pm
We are going to needs lots of help to find out who is living on Broadhaven beach. We hope to find lots of fish, crabs and many animals living in their shells. We may even have chance to have a seine net along the beach.
It is International Year of Biodiversity and to celebrate we are off to the beach with Bethan Cox, Pembrokeshire's Biodiversity Officer, we hope you can come too.

Fishweek
We have a stand at the fish week open day on Saturday June 26th so stop by and say hello.Seine Netting in Dale

We will be at Saundersfoot on Saturday July 3rd doing a seine net, come along and discover what lives in the water at Saundersfoot beach. We're also hoping for some sunny weather! Although we loved all the crabs and fish we found last year, we'd have loved to finish off the day in the sun!

Damselflies and Dragonflies
Peter Brown will be taking the public on a walk around Brynberian looking for unusual damselflies and dragonflies. We will also do some kick sampling to see if we can find the underwater stage of these creatures life cycle.

We have several wonderful speakers coming to Pembrokeshire this year.Panda is released into the wild

Professor Mike Bruford is a dna expert and applies molecular genetics to the conservation of endangered species. He is researching abroad at the moment but he has agreed to come and speak to an audience later in the year. Read a newspaper report on his work here.

Professor Tavi Murray in the Antarctic

 

 

Professor Tavi Murray is a glaciologist specializing in the impact of glacial melt, caused by climate change, on sea level rise. Read an article on her work.

 

Velcro from biomimetics

 

Georgina Campbell wrote her disseration on Biomimetic Nanostructured Medical Adhesives and now specializes at M.I.T university. Biomimetics is the application of biological methods and systems found in nature to the study and design of engineering systems and modern technology. She is currently working with porcupine needles. At only 23 she is a great role model for Pembrokeshire Sixth Form students and will also be speaking to the public in the evening.
